Black Lives Matter Matter

Reform Radio stands in solidarity with the Black community against all forms of racism, discrimination and White supremacy. Reform recognises that it is simply not enough to be non-racist and that we have to be actively and unapologetically anti-racist.

We value, respect and celebrate the huge contribution and influence the Black community has on our world. It is clear that all of us must do better and be willing to reflect on the part we can each play in supporting real progress.

For us, Black Out Tuesday was a time to show our support for Black Lives Matter by silencing our station. We continue to reflect, learn, read and educate ourselves and believe in the power of conversation, dialogue and the sharing of these experiences as an agent of change. As an organisation, we are committed to always present our platform not only as a space where those conversations are welcome but also look to promote the work of other organisations from whom we can learn. We recognise that empathy, dialogue and collaboration are the bedrock of meaningful change.

We therefore initially want to make it clear that our station is always open to ideas, conversations and dialogues that promote an anti-racist future. We want to pass the mic and open up our schedule to any people, organisations and groups who want to take it. Please get in touch via studio@reformradio.co.uk with programme ideas that work towards achieving these goals. We will commit to producing as much content as possible to fight racism and amplify this message to our audience.

Black Live Matter useful materials

Here you can find some useful materials about donating to the cause, educating yourself and others around you as well as ways on how you can support. We will be updating this document regularly, if you have something to add, please email shout@reformradio.co.uk.

STAY CONNECTED WITH REFORM RADIO

In light of current government guidance our staff will be working from home where possible and we will be pausing the majority of programming from the studio to avoid movement across the city.

During this time we are committed to these set of values:

  • Ensuring the wellbeing and safety of the Reform Family and the wider community
  • Supporting the industry and freelancers with paid opportunities where possible
  • Delivering exciting and quality content to bring joy into people’s homes

The young people we work with and support are our number one priority and we are keeping in contact with them regularly, especially with those who are isolated and most at risk. We are making our in house Wellbeing Officer available to all of them over the phone and will continue to develop new ways we can support our family as the weeks progress. As always, you can contact us on 0161 806 0879 or email shout@reformradio.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns.

We will be continuing to deliver new, exciting and what we hope is uplifting content during this difficult time via reformradio.co.uk and through our socials. Our wonderful family of artists and DJs will be providing pre records (and we will support them where possible to do so) and we are exploring safe ways of bringing back our much loved, At Home With series.

We have other exciting programme ideas in the pipeline and are willing to receive pre-record programme ideas via studio@reformradio.co.uk and are happy to hear music for consideration for our specialist programming via music@reformradio.co.uk.

Now is a great time to develop any podcasting ideas and we can help through our online consultations. We also look forward to working with clients to make content remotely and have the capacity to do this. Please email podcasts@reformradio.co.uk to discuss.

In the meantime we send our love and support to everyone and please keep communicating with us through our platforms, sharing love, music, art and stories as we endeavour to do our best to keep people’s spirits high. Please keep a close eye on the NHS guidance at www.gov.uk and we want to extend a massive thank you to all NHS and any other workers out on the frontline and who don’t have the option to work from home like we do.

Love The Reform Radio Family.
